Madonna’s brother, Christopher Ciccone, passed away at the age of 63 on October 4, after battling cancer. His representative confirmed that he died peacefully, surrounded by his husband, Ray Thacker, and loved ones.
Born in Pontiac, Michigan, Christopher was the fifth child of Madonna Louise and Silvio Patrick Ciccone, and he grew up in Rochester. After studying at Western Michigan and Oakland Universities, he moved to New York, where he supported his sister Madonna’s early career as a dancer and choreographer. His role evolved, becoming her dresser and creative consultant during her rise to fame. He also collaborated with her on designing homes in New York, Miami, and Los Angeles.
Christopher later transitioned to a career in interior design, footwear design, memoir writing, and painting, frequently showcasing his art on Instagram. In recent years, he moved to northern Michigan to be closer to family, many of whom are involved in the family-owned Ciccone Vineyards.

He is survived by his father, siblings Martin, Madonna, Paula, and Melanie, as well as half-siblings Jennifer and Mario. He was predeceased by his eldest brother, Anthony, and stepmother Joan Ciccone. His death comes shortly after the passing of his stepmother in September.
Christopher and Madonna’s relationship had its ups and downs, particularly after the release of his 2008 tell-all book Life with My Sister Madonna, in which he opened up about their strained relationship. Despite the fallout, Christopher later stated in a 2012 interview that they had reconciled and maintained a sibling relationship.

This marks the second recent family loss for Madonna, following the death of her brother Anthony in February last year. She honored him on social media, expressing gratitude for the lessons he had taught her during their youth.
