Alvin Kamara, the star running back for the New Orleans Saints, has put his Belle Chasse home up for sale, sparking speculation about his future with the team. The 6,924-square-foot property, built in 2022, is listed at $2.75 million. Kamara, known for his strategic investments, emphasized that this move is part of his broader real estate ventures and not necessarily a sign of his departure from New Orleans.
“I wouldn’t say I had an exact plan, but I had plans,” Kamara stated, smiling when asked about the sale. “I’m pretty intentional when it comes to those moves that I make with real estate. I got other properties around the city, too. So if I sell [the house] today, I’ll have somewhere to be, so I’m good.”
Despite his calm demeanour, Kamara’s future with the Saints remains uncertain. The running back has two years left on his contract, but his 2024 salary cap of $18.5 million is the highest on the team. There is no guaranteed money in 2025 and a looming $29 million cap hit. This situation has led to widespread speculation that the Saints could save nearly $19 million by releasing Kamara before June 1, 2025, if the two sides cannot agree on a new deal.
Tensions have already flared over contract negotiations. In June, Kamara walked out on the last day of the mandatory minicamp, signalling his displeasure with the current state of talks. Despite this, Kamara attended all training camp, though he missed over a week due to back tightness. He returned on August 20, ready to compete as the Saints prepared to kick off their season on September 8 against the Carolina Panthers.
As Kamara enters his eighth NFL season, he remains focused on maximizing his time on the field. “I feel like there is no time to waste,” Kamara said. “I don’t want to sit here and say, ‘I’ve got time. I’ve got time.’ Ain’t no time, so I’m trying to run it up. I’m trying to do what I can to have the most success.”
Kamara has been a critical player for the Saints, earning five consecutive Pro Bowl selections to start his career despite never having a 1,000-yard rushing season. Last season, he rushed for 694 yards and five touchdowns in 13 games. While his future with the Saints remains uncertain, one thing is clear: Kamara is determined to make the most of his career, whether in New Orleans or elsewhere.
