A decade after launching its first smartwatch, Apple is doubling down on innovation with the Apple Watch Series 10. The new version is thinner, sleeker, and packed with more health-focused features as the company aims to boost sales of what has become the world’s most popular timepiece.
Apple Watch Series 10
Major Upgrades Unveiled on Monday, the Apple Watch Series 10 comes with rounder corners and a 10% thinner design. The display is larger and brighter, offering up to 30% more screen space than the Series 6, making it easier to read texts, type messages, and view emails. This new model also features Apple’s first wide-angle OLED display, which is 40% brighter when viewed at an angle and refreshes every second instead of once per minute.
Despite the larger, more advanced display, the Apple Watch Series 10 is Apple’s thinnest smartwatch to date. It now includes a new speaker system for playing audio directly from the watch. Charging is also faster, with the watch reaching 80% battery in just 30 minutes—an ideal feature for users tracking their sleep.
Health and Fitness Tracking
A Key Focus Health tracking has always been central to the Apple Watch, and the Series 10 takes it further with a new sleep apnea detection feature. Using machine learning and clinical-grade sleep tests, the watch can monitor for signs of the disorder and suggest users see a doctor. Apple expects this feature to receive FDA clearance soon, and it will be available in over 150 regions globally.
Fitness enthusiasts also get new tools with the Series 10, including depth detection for diving and snorkeling. Additionally, tides information has been integrated into watchOS 11, providing essential data before heading out on the water. Enhanced tracking for activities like kayaking and paddleboarding is also part of the update.
Apple Watch Ultra 2
A Durable Sports Companion Alongside the Series 10, Apple introduced updates to the Apple Watch Ultra 2, its robust model designed for athletes and adventure seekers. While physical changes are minimal, the Ultra 2 now comes in a satin black finish. It remains Apple’s premier sports watch, supporting activities like running, swimming, golfing, and skiing, while offering advanced positioning software and dual-frequency GPS for precision tracking.
Apple’s Smartwatch Evolution
The Apple Watch has become a significant contributor to the company’s revenue, especially when combined with sales of AirPods. Although initially slow to gain traction, Apple has cemented its position as the world’s leading watchmaker. The Apple Watch Series 10 and Ultra 2 continue this trajectory, offering users not only cutting-edge technology but also new health tools that enhance their daily lives.
Pricing and Availability
The Apple Watch Series 10 starts at $399, while the Ultra 2 is priced at $799. Both are available for preorder now and will be officially launched on September 20.
