LEXINGTON, Ky. – UPDATE: London Mayor Randall Weddle has confirmed that five individuals were shot on I-75 near exit 49 in Laurel County. All victims are in stable condition, with three having been airlifted from St. Joseph London for further treatment.
The interstate has reopened after being closed for several hours, but KY 909 and U.S. 25 in Laurel County remain shut down.

The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for Joseph A. Couch, 32, who is considered a person of interest in the shooting. Couch is deemed armed and dangerous. Authorities are focusing their search in a rural area of Laurel County and are optimistic about his capture.
Lexington police are providing aerial support with their helicopter to aid in the search efforts. Officials have assured the public of their safety due to the heavy police presence in the area but are advising residents to stay vigilant and remain indoors.
Anyone in the vicinity should adhere to instructions from law enforcement, fire department personnel, and road signs indicating detours.
