Werder Bremen vs Bayern Munich: Predicted XI, confirmed team news and injury latest

Vincent Kompany’s side come into the match fresh off a commanding 9-2 victory over Dinamo Zagreb in midweek, where Harry Kane set a new record as the highest-scoring Englishman in European competitions, surpassing Wayne Rooney with 33 goals in 45 games.

Bayern have secured nine points from their opening three league games, notching wins against Wolfsburg, Freiburg, and Holstein Kiel. This puts them two points clear of rivals Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig at the top of the table.

However, the trip to Bremen won’t be straightforward. Ole Werner’s side are one of five Bundesliga teams still unbeaten this season, with a win and two draws under their belt. Additionally, Werder pulled off a 1-0 victory over Bayern in the last meeting between the two sides.

Werder Bremen Team News:
Bremen will be without captain Marco Friedl, who is suspended following a red card in their 2-1 win over Mainz. Amos Pieper is expected to replace him in a back three. Justin Njinmah is also unavailable due to an ankle injury, with Marco Grüll likely to start in his place.

Bayern Munich Team News:
Manuel Neuer remains a doubt after being substituted midweek against Dinamo Zagreb with a thigh injury following a collision. Sven Ulreich is on standby, as Bayern may avoid risking Neuer. In addition to Neuer, Sacha Boey is sidelined for the foreseeable future, and Josip Stanišić has yet to feature this season due to a knee issue.

Predicted Lineups:

Werder Bremen: Michael Zetterer – Amos Pieper, Niklas Stark, Anthony Jung – Mitchell Weiser, Senne Lynen, Derrick Köhn – Romano Schmid, Jens Stage – Marvin Ducksch, Marco Grüll

Bayern Munich: Manuel Neuer – Raphael Guerreiro, Dayot Upamecano, Kim Min-jae, Alphonso Davies – Joshua Kimmich, Aleksandar Pavlovic – Michael Olise, Jamal Musiala, Serge Gnabry – Harry Kane
