Cameron and Cayden Boozer Continue Their Brotherly Bond at Duke
Cameron and Cayden Boozer, the twin sons of former NBA All-Star Carlos Boozer, have committed to Duke University, following in their father’s footsteps. The Boozer twins have built an impressive basketball legacy at Christopher Columbus High School in Miami, winning three consecutive state championships and dominating the AAU circuit with their team, Nightrydas Elite, by sweeping Peach Jam titles at the 15U, 16U, and 17U levels. Their basketball success is matched by a remarkable personal journey that began with their birth as part of a life-saving effort to help their older brother, Carmani, who was born with sickle cell anemia.

Born in July 2007 through in vitro fertilization, Cameron and Cayden were specifically chosen to be a bone marrow match for their brother. Three weeks after their birth, Carmani underwent a successful transplant and is now healthy, playing college baseball at the University of Fort Lauderdale. The bond between the twins and their older brother has defined their family, reinforcing the principle of being their brother’s keeper from the start.
Despite their shared history, their mother, CeCe Boozer, was determined to ensure that the twins developed their own unique identities. From an early age, she encouraged them to explore various sports, ensuring they weren’t solely defined as “the Boozer twins” or as sons of an NBA star. Although basketball eventually became their chosen path, CeCe emphasized that they should be seen as individuals, not just as brothers.

Cameron, the taller of the two at 6’9”, emerged early as a generational talent, with college coaches and NBA scouts tracking his progress since his freshman year of high school. He’s already collected accolades such as two Florida Mr. Basketball titles and a Gatorade National Player of the Year award. Despite being constantly compared to his father, Cameron is focused on creating his own legacy, driven to avoid the fate of high school stars who plateau before reaching their full potential.
On the other hand, Cayden, a 6’4” point guard, took a slightly different path to recognition. While his brother’s dominance drew attention early on, Cayden steadily developed into one of the top high school point guards in the country, leading the Nike EYBL circuit in assists for two consecutive summers. His court vision, poise, and leadership have earned him a five-star rating, and his reputation continues to grow.

The twins’ commitment to Duke wasn’t solely influenced by their father’s legacy. In fact, their decision came down to the wire between Duke and their hometown school, Miami. Ultimately, the opportunity to continue their journey together at Duke felt right. While there was a possibility that they could have chosen separate colleges, both felt aligned in their decision-making process.
Next year at Duke will likely be their final chapter as teammates, as they both set their sights on the NBA, where they may end up on different teams. For now, they remain focused on finishing their high school careers with a fourth straight state championship, while still finding time to unwind with their favorite pastime—playing NBA 2K together with their older brother.
As they head to Duke, Cameron and Cayden Boozer are poised to bring the same winning mentality to the Blue Devils, with hopes of following their father’s footsteps to win a national championship and eventually reach the NBA. Whatever challenges lie ahead, their unbreakable bond and shared drive will continue to fuel their journey.
