Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre disclosed Tuesday that he has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.

Favre made the announcement while speaking at a House Ways and Means Committee hearing focused on reforming Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF).

“Unfortunately, I lost an investment in a company that I believed was working on a breakthrough drug for concussions, something I thought could help others. But sadly, it’s too late for me, as I was recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease,” Favre said. “This cause is very personal to me.”

Favre, known for his remarkable NFL career, spent the majority of his playing days with the Green Bay Packers, where he won a Super Bowl in the 1996-97 season and earned three consecutive MVP awards from 1995 to 1997.

He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2016.
