Though City dominated early possession, Fulham struck first in the 26th minute when Andreas Pereira finished off a clever back heel assist from Raul Jimenez.
City responded swiftly, equalizing six minutes later after a failed Fulham clearance from a corner found Kovacic, who calmly fired it in. Kovacic then scored his second just after half-time, converting a Jack Grealish pass with a superb strike from the edge of the box.
Jeremy Doku extended City’s lead to 3-1 in the 82nd minute with a stunning top-corner finish, marking his first goal of the season. Fulham’s Rodrigo Muniz reduced the deficit in the 88th minute, but City held on for the win.
