An 8-year-old girl in Ohio is safe after taking her mother’s car and driving to a local Target, police reported.
In a Facebook post shared Sunday morning, Bedford police humorously recounted the incident.
“Well, I’ve finally found someone more eager to shop at Target than my wife—an 8-year-old,” the post read. “That’s right, this morning, an 8-year-old took her mom’s car and drove to the Target in Bainbridge to do some shopping.”
According to the post, the girl managed to reach the store, where Bainbridge police quickly located her. Officers spotted her mother’s 2020 Nissan Rogue parked outside.
“We’re not sure what she was shopping for or if she used her Target app to save 5%, but we did let her finish her Frappuccino. We’re not that mean,” police joked.
Fortunately, the girl was unharmed, though she admitted to hitting a mailbox during the drive. The exact distance she traveled wasn’t provided, but WJW, citing Google Maps, estimated that the Target was over 10 miles away—about a 20- to 25-minute drive.
