Orlando Shooting: 2 Dead, 7 Injured in Downtown

A devastating shooting incident occurred in downtown Orlando early Friday morning, resulting in two fatalities and seven injuries. The Orlando Police Department responded to a shooting call near East Central Boulevard and North Orange Avenue at 1:07 a.m. Shortly after, another call reported shots fired south of Washington Street on North Orange Avenue.

 

Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith confirmed that eight people were shot, with two victims succumbing to their injuries. A ninth person was injured due to being trampled in the chaos. The victims’ ages range from 19 to 39 years old.

 

A 17-year-old suspect with a prior arrest record was taken into custody. The area was crowded with 50,000-100,000 people celebrating Halloween, leading to a chaotic scene.

Victim Updates:

Nine individuals were transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center, with two in critical condition. The hospital released the following updates:
  • Victim 1: 25-year-old black male, deceased
  • Victim 2: 19-year-old white male, deceased
  • Victim 3: 18-year-old white male, shot in lower left leg
  • Victim 4: 39-year-old white female, shot in left hand
  • Victim 5: 24-year-old Hispanic female, shot in left leg
  • Victim 6: 20-year-old black male, shot in head (graze)
  • Victim 7: 26-year-old Hispanic male, shot in right foot
  • Victim 8: 19-year-old Hispanic female, shot in upper back, lodged in cheek
  • Victim 9: 26-year-old Hispanic female, injuries from being trampled
