Well, that was quite a week. While not every game was a disaster, Week 1 of the NFL season showcased some rough performances. Whether it’s due to the lack of preseason play for starters or just some teams falling flat, fantasy managers were left frustrated. For those who had to watch the Carolina Panthers, New York Giants, or Tennessee Titans, the agony was palpable.

Here are some players you might want to consider dropping based on their Week 1 performance:
Deshaun Watson, QB, CLE (33% rostered)
Deshaun Watson’s performance in Week 1 was disappointing, to say the least. He threw for just 169 yards with two interceptions and had a passer rating barely over 50. Despite not making excuses, Watson’s play was subpar, and he has yet to resemble the star quarterback he once was with the Houston Texans. Given his inconsistent performance over his tenure with the Browns, he might not be worth holding onto.
Blake Corum, RB, LAR (66% rostered)
Blake Corum, despite a promising preseason and hype from his college days, didn’t see any action in Week 1 against the Lions. With Kyren Williams taking the lead and Corum failing to play a single snap, he’s not contributing to fantasy teams. Unless there’s an injury to Williams, Corum’s value is currently non-existent.
Chuba Hubbard, RB, CAR (63% rostered)
Chuba Hubbard was expected to be a key player in the Panthers’ backfield, but Week 1 was a letdown. The Panthers were crushed by the Saints, and Hubbard, along with Miles Sanders, struggled to make an impact. With the return of Jonathon Brooks looming and the Panthers’ offense looking bleak, Hubbard is not a reliable fantasy option right now.
Curtis Samuel, WR, BUF (54% rostered)
Curtis Samuel was expected to shine in the revamped Buffalo passing game. However, he was hardly involved in Week 1, receiving just two targets and 15 yards. With Samuel battling turf toe and playing behind other options like Khalil Shakir and Keon Coleman, his fantasy value is minimal.
Luke Musgrave, TE, GB (55% rostered)
Luke Musgrave’s Week 1 performance was underwhelming. He was out-snapped by teammate Tucker Kraft and, with Jordan Love now injured, Musgrave’s role could diminish further. Given these factors, Musgrave isn’t a reliable tight end option and might be worth dropping in most leagues.
Don’t let the early-season struggles of these players affect your fantasy lineup. Evaluate your roster and make the necessary adjustments to stay competitive throughout the season.
